Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a permanent restoration that covers the tooth like a "cap" to provide protection and stability to teeth affected by decay or other damage. A tooth crown can be made of many types of materials including porcelain, gold, resin, or a combination of these materials.

For the most natural look and feel, Doctors at Max Dental prefer porcelain dental crowns. Porcelain dental crowns are extremely well fitting and virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

About Dental Crowns

The process for restoring teeth with dental crowns is fairly simple:

  • Initial Consultation & Examination - Doctors at Max Dnetal will determine if a dental crown is right for you after performing an initial consultation and examination. At this appointment, you will have an opportunity to tell our Doctors about your concerns and goals and he will work to create an individualized treatment plan that will address any health or functional problems while achieving your cosmetic goals.
  • Preparation - Next, the tooth will be prepared to accept the dental crown. Any old fillings or per-existing crowns will be removed to create a solid foundation for the new tooth crown. The Doctor will take an impression of the tooth and select a shade to match the natural teeth.
  • Final Fit & Cementation - The final dental crown will be applied to the tooth, many times in the same visit. If the dental crown is being made in a dental laboratory, The Specialist may apply a temporary tooth cap to protect the tooth in the intermediate time period.
  • After Care - Caring for dental crowns after your final appointment is easy. Dental crowns can usually be cared for just like natural teeth with a regular routine of brushing and flossing. Keeping professional dental cleaning appointments will help to ensure that the dental crown continues to fit properly and keep the tooth and surrounding teeth free of damage and decay. Porcelain dental crowns are highly stain resistant and will continue to look white and bright for years to come.

    Dental Bridges
Doctors at Max Dental use dental bridges as a solution for missing teeth. There are many types of dental bridges, Our Specialists will help you make the best decision for optimal long term results.

A dental bridge is used to bridge a gap between teeth to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge can either be removable or fixed and made from a variety of tooth-like materials.

    Removable Dental Bridge

Typically, a removable dental bridge is reserved for short term solution. A removable bridge may be used to maintain tooth position while a patient is preparing to have a fixed dental bridge or dental implant. While the cost may be lower initially, removable dental bridges do not offer good long term benefits and frequently require replacement or repair down the road.

    Fixed Dental Bridge

In a fixed dental bridge, a prosthetic tooth is connected to two dental crowns which cover the teeth on either side of the gap. A drawback to this type of a dental bridge is that it places stress on the natural teeth. Particularly if the teeth are in good health, this type of dental bridge could put unneeded stress on the teeth can lead to premature wear or cavity formation.

A better option is to have a fixed dental bridge secured by dental implants instead of dental crowns. Dental implants offer better long term benefits and do not affect neighboring teeth.

    Dental Implant vs. Dental Bridge

When compared to a dental bridge, a dental implant provides superior long term results. Dental implants are often the best solution for replacing teeth because they are the closest thing to a natural tooth. In fact, most people forget they have a dental implant.

While the initial concern of expense may be an issue, dental implants are an extremely conservative solution and present the least number of problems in the future. And while dental implant surgery may cause anxiety, the procedure is no more involved than the process of having a tooth pulled.

Doctors at max Dental use dental implants to replace a single tooth or several teeth depending on the individual case. Learn more about Dental Implants.
